MÄRCHEN DER WELT (ARTIA)
Series Note: This beautiful series of children's books of folk tales and fairy tales was published in German probably both for readers in the nearby communist German Democratic Republic (East Germany ) and for readers in the other German speaking countries, Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany), Austria and Switzerland.
The series title "Märchen der Welt" may be translated into English as "Tales of the World".
Czechoslovakia in in the mid-20th century was famous for the quality of its printing of children's books.
The publisher of this series was Artia (referred to in these volumes as Artia Verlag, Praha or Artia Verlag, Prag [=Artia Publishers, Prague]). The firm was located in Prague, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic) and specialised in publishing books on art, painting, etc. for the international market with many titles in the English language and printing books on these subjects and on children's literature which appeared under other publishers' names (e.g. of Paul Hamlyn and of Bancroft & Co. in the U.K.).
