COLECCAO ESTUDOS E ORIENTACOES (FRELIMO)
Series Note: The name of this Portuguese language series of political booklets is Colecção Estudos e orientações. Translated from the Portuguese, it means "Studies and Guidelines Series".
The publisher of this series was FRELIMO, an organisation which was based in Maputo, Mozambique (Maputo was officially named Lourenço Marques until 1976 and is the capital and most populous city of Mozambique). The word FRELIMO is an acronym based on the Portuguese words, "Frente de Libertação de Moçambique", which, when translated into English, mean "Liberation Front of Mozambique" or "Mozambique Liberation Front". FRELIMO is the main political party in Mozambique. It is a democratic socialist party and it was founded in 1962 as a "nationalist movement fighting for the self-determination and independence of Mozambique from Portuguese colonial rule". (Source)
The main author of the books in this series was Samora Machel (1933-1986), a Mozambican FRELIMO military commander and political leader. "A socialist in the tradition of Marxism-Leninism, he served as the first President of Mozambique from the country's independence in 1975." (Source)
