STAFFRIDER SERIES (RAVAN PRESS)
Series Note:
This series was published by the Ravan Press (Pty) Ltd, Johannesburg, South Africa, in the years 1979-86.

"Also of outstanding importance for black South African literature was the Staffrider Series, which brought forth a flood of books by black writers. The series started in 1979 with Madingoane's poetry collection, Africa My Beginning, then presented Matshoba's volume of short stories Call Me Not a Man in the same year and the prose anthology Forced Landing early in 1980. An average of four to five volumes were printed annually in the 1980s, a decade which finally saw black writing and publishing flourish in South Africa."
